Motor Vehicles Division~  License Plates Information


Issuing and renewal | Expiration | Handicapped Placards or Plates| Temporary Permits |

Secure and Verifiable Identification is required for all transactions. The identification must be provided by the owner of record or with a power of attorney presented by the agent. The agent must have a secure and verifiable identification to complete the transaction.

Handicapped Placard or Plate(s)

  • Handicapped placards and license plates are issued in any of the three offices of the Boulder County Clerk & Recorder. 
  • A licensed medical physician must complete a form authorizing the use of placard or plate.
  • Placards are free of charge. 
  • The regular license fees and ownership taxes will be charged for the license plates. 
  • There is no additional charge for handicapped placards.
